Doula - Birth Support
Heli - you have given us so very much that is incalculably dear to my hear and soul... You are a gleaming radiant gem...and I am a very lucky woman to have had you by my side. 
I have been a Doula for over 15 years, and am deeply honoured to support women, couples and families during the precious, challenging, transformative, intimate events of pregnancy, birth and the early newborn period.
The concept of a Doula is centred around ‘continuity of care’ (or ‘continuity of care-giver’). A trained, trusted, and experienced person who is with you through pregnancy, birth, and in the precious days and weeks afterwards. A Doula is someone who has total trust in the process of birth; who understands the physiology of birth; and who recognises that birth is an holistic process of mind, body and soul. A Doula is someone who has been there herself, enabling her to provide genuine reassurance, attention, and practical support to the labouring woman and her partner. Having a Doula present at your birth can substantially decrease the length of labour, reduce the need for pain relief medication and unnecessary interventions, and have a positive influence on bonding and breastfeeding. Loving Birth Doula Package
I meet with you and your partner before birth, where the main focus is getting to know each other and establishing trust and openness. We work through questions, share stories, access information, explore options, address fears, and plan how to create the best post-birth environment to increase confidence, ease and joy in the precious days and weeks after your baby is born.
I provide continuity of presence through your labour, from when you are ready, to a few hours after the birth of your baby. During labour, my focus is your needs. My desire is to keep your birthing space feeling safe, and to help maintain the integrity and sacredness of your birth experience. I help facilitate communication with caregivers, attend to practical needs - massage, hydration, heat packs, photos, birth pools, freeing you and your partner to experience birth without other pressures or distractions. I cuddle siblings, support mums in birthing positions, offer cues and support and space to partners. I gently suggest a range of tools to facilitate relaxation and maximise opening. Mostly I am there as trusted, experienced, woman-to-woman emotional support who BELIEVES IN YOU. I visit you after your birth, and have great respect for the ‘baby moon’ or first few days & weeks after birth. I endeavour to accommodate your needs and wishes with sensitivity and awareness. I provide gentle reassurance and emotional support in these tender early days. I listen with love as you express your experience, offer bodywork to ease tension and draw in your energy again, and guide you in seeking and receiving the support you need.
